Term 3 Week 8 - Copy
Principal's Report

Dear Coolum Community,
Thank you all for another amazing term! It has been a busy one and over the past 2 weeks, a number of year levels have held end of term events with families coming in to see the students’ work. The effort that our students went to in their tasks this term has been phenomenal and they are so proud to showcase that to their families. Thank you to teachers for hosting these events! This week Coolum SHS held their Excellence awards evening in our hall. I was lucky enough to attend and it is wonderful many of our Coolum SS students continuing their journey and achieving great things. The calibre of students receiving awards is of such a high standard, and you have to remember that they are still so young. It was a joy to be a part of.
Thank you to our P&C for such a wonderful ‘Colour me in Kindness” event!! The students loved it and it was perfect conditions for such a fun afternoon! A highlight was seeing the excited looks from our Prep students as they ran around the course for the first time. Having their Year 6 Buddies looking after then wasa delight! Of course Mr O’Brien being hit with colour from Mr Prokopuk and Mr Stanieg was also very entertaining. Thank you to our volunteers who helped out on the day.
Whilst we are thanking the P&C, I would like to share that our amazing P&C have met and decided to pay for our students in Years 5, 6 and Prep attend their Surf Skills Program. This means that families will only need to pay for the transport costs (bus). This is a contribution of over $10000 to our families to subsidise such an important curriculum activity. When I met with our P&C and made the proposal (with Mr Moody) we agreed on how important safety at the beach is, especially with where we live, and our P&C quickly jumped in to help reduce costs for our families. This is such a huge additional contribution to school, in addition to the support they already provide. I would like to sincerely thank our P&C- you are amazing! We are now talking about future plans to extend this program across our school over the years to come.
Next term, Dom carter will be replacing Mr O'Brien as our Deputy Principal for Years 5 & 6.
Finally, today we celebrated Mr O’Brien and his retirement. Mr O’Brien has been in education for nearly 40 years and at Coolum SS for 7 years. Our final parade this term was a nod to him, and we all will miss Mr O’Brien very much! Congratulations!
Have a safe and wonderful holiday and see you all back on Tuesday 7th October to start Term 4!

RUOK? Day Parade & Bucket Filling in Year 5
Class 5D students were proud to share an important message during our RUOK? Day parade item last week. They reminded us all about the power of kindness, checking in with others, and taking care of our wellbeing.
In class, we’ve also been learning about bucket filling—how small, positive actions can help “fill” someone else’s bucket and our own.
With the school holidays coming up, here are some simple ideas for bucket filling you might like to try at home:
Holiday Bucket-Filling Ideas
- Frank - Say something kind to a family member each day.
- Bob – Smile at someone.
- Ava - Help out at home without being asked.
- Evelyn - Write a note or card to make someone smile.
- Amali - Share a game, toy, or activity with a friend or sibling.
- Axel - Give someone a compliment.
- Apollo - Spend time with someone who might be feeling left out.
- Caleb – say something funny to brighten someone’s day.
- Aria – check in with someone to see how they are doing.
Remember to fill your own bucket too by doing something you enjoy!
Thanks!

Moon Walk For Our Moon's Mission
Dear Coolum State Families,
Just one more reminder for a special invitation to the Coolum Moonwalk, as it’s close to our hearts here at Coolum State School.
As many of you know, our preppie Tallulah lives with a rare neurodegenerative condition called SPG56. Her family has been working incredibly hard through their registered charity Our Moon’s Mission to fund life-changing research and a potential cure.
The rescheduled Moonwalk will now take place on Sunday 5 October from 2pm at Tickle Park, Coolum — just two days before Term 4 starts! It’s a magical, family-friendly afternoon filled with live music, inclusive entertainment, face painting, a drumming-led moonlight walk, and so much more!
$5 per child, $25 per adult, or $55 for a 'tribe' ticket (up to 5 people!)
Tallulah is especially excited to share that the Moonwalk has improved and will now feature fairy floss (!!) along with healthy food trucks too, and a full live set from Marshall Hamburger, winner of Australian Idol. Be sure to get there from 2:30pm to catch Marshall on stage 🎉.
If your family would like to come along and support Tallulah and this amazing cause, please visit the link below to book your tickets:

Please check lost property before Friday for any misplaced items. Please fully name (first & last names) all items brought to school, that way they can be returned to the student.
